This recipe was inspired as I strolled down the isles at the dollar store. They have many brand names and my kids love brownies, so I grabbed 2 packages of fudge brownies (Betty Crocker) plus the pudding (Jell-O). I thought that the pudding would make the brownies extra fudgy and boy was I right! I adjusted the ingredients slightly, so follow my recipe.

What I love about this recipe other than it tastes amazing and is inexpensive, is that you can easily whip it up in 1 bowl. It’s also a blank canvas and the add-ins are limitless. You can add some orange-flavored extract with orange zest, some warming spices like cinnamon & pumpkin pie spice for fall or winter, chocolate chips always a crowd-favorite, colorful sprinkles, nuts, seeds, and you can even swirl in peanut butter, almond butter or tahini. Pressing some M & M’s on the top of the brownies is another great idea. Whip up some whipped cream and add a dollop or 2 to the brownies. Warm them in the oven and pair with ice cream. Endless possibilities.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Pour the packaged ingredients into 1 large bowl. Add the vegetable oil, premixed eggs, and milk and whisk together the ingredients until smooth and no lumps remain. If it’s still a little thick add a little drizzle more of milk. Use a creamy milk like whole or low fat avoid non fat milk. I have also used Lactaid milk which in and of itself is very creamy!

Once the batter is smooth, add in anything you’d like.

Thoroughly butter and flour the pan, so the brownies don’t stick. Bake in the oven for 26-28 minutes. Allow them to sit in the pan, so they can cool.

Using a sharp knife cut into perfect squares. This recipe makes about 20 brownies with some leftover for taste testing. These freeze great!

Enjoy!
