These are my family’s favorite dinner rolls which come together very quickly in one bowl. If you want to speed up the rise time use rapid rise or instant yeast and dough will rise closer to 1 hour. These are just delicious and the melted garlic butter sauce sends this recipe over the top! A must try especially for a holiday gathering.
Preheat the oven to 300 degrees. You can let the dough rise on the stovetop. You can turn the oven off after 30 minutes.
In the stand mixer bowl with hook attachment, add the flour, 4 tablespoons melted butter, eggs, sugar, yeast, yogurt, and salt. Mix to incorporate all of the ingredients and slowly drizzle in a very little bit of milk just until dough forms together and is no longer dry. If it’s too wet, add a tablespoon of flour at a time. Knead in the stand mixer bowl for 5 minutes or you can do this step by hand, the old-fashion way(ha-ha) on a wood cutting board.
Add a drizzle of olive oil to the stand mixer bowl and place the dough back inside. Top with more olive oil and cover. Place on the stovetop and allow it to rise for 1 1/2 hours or until dough doubles. If you use rapid rise yeast this will be close to 1 hour.
Once dough has risen, cut 12 pieces of dough and from into dough balls by pinching the ends toward the bottom. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
Place in a 9 by 11.5 baking dish. Brush on melted butter.
Bake until golden about 30-35 minutes. Top with more melted butter and minced garlic.
Tip: heat the butter with the garlic in the microwave just until melted.
Enjoy!
